Flat Rack containers
Flat Rack Containers are fantastic for loading a wide range of oversized heavy items that aren’t able to be loaded onto a standard container. Flat Racks are heavily engineered for this very purpose and usually have a payload of around 40 – 45 tonnes. They are by far the most robust form of shipping container available and come in for different types – Flush Folding Ends, Folding Ends, Fixed Ends and Bases.

Frequently asked questions
What are the different types of Flat Rack Containers?
There are four different types of Flat Rack Containers available. They are:
Flush Folding Ends
Flush Folding Ends are a type where the ends can either be up or can be down. They fold into the deck which can be loaded onto and used as a base as well.
Folding Ends
When not in use, the ends can come down to minimise space and reduce transportation costs.
Fixed Ends
Ends are permanently fixed in an upright position and fully welded in construction.
Bases
These are Flat Rack Containers with no ends attached.
What are Flat Rack Containers used for?
Flat Rack Containers are used to transport oversized and/or heavy items and loads. This can include such things as raw steel, machinery, industrial parts, piping, vehicles, farm equipment, concrete products and more. They are also commonly used as bridges for a fraction of the price compared to a traditional bridge.
What sizes do Flat Rack Containers come in?
Flat Rack Containers are available in 20ft and 40ft sizes.
What is the payload?
Flat racks are engineered with serious payloads in mind. The steel in most parts is extremely thick compared to a standard container.
A 20ft Flat Track Container has a payload of approximately 31,000 – 34,000kg
A 40ft Flat Track Container has a payload of approximately 39,000 – 44,000kg
