Moana Park Estate Winery and NZBOX – the perfect pairing!

The evolution of the humble shipping container

Twenty odd years ago, a shipping container would only have been associated with international haulage. Towers of colourful containers are a familiar sight to anyone living near one of New Zealand’s main ports.

These days, it’s not unusual to see shipping containers being used for many different functions, even within your local community.

Secure storage, portable workspaces, comfortable dwellings, and so much more! When it comes to finding a modern use for a shipping container, you are only limited by your imagination.

Shipping container modification and customisation

At NZBOX, we design and manufacture customised containers to meet the specific needs of our customers.

We can modify any of our 10ft, 20ft and 40ft standard or insulated units at standard height or high cube height.

Adding windows and doors from our varied selection, and fitting the space with power points and light fixtures transforms the container into a practical space specific to your needs.

The customer, Moana Park Estate

When Moana Park Estate approached NZBOX, we were excited for the opportunity to work with them.

We were invited to this picturesque vineyard, nestled in the charming Puketapu Valley, in the Hawkes Bay.

We learned about Moana Park Estate’s passion for hosting live music events in their ‘Sounds at the Cellar’ vineyard concerts. Big ticket acts, such as Dragon and Bic Runga, drew large crowds to the estate, necessitating the need for an extra facility to serve drinks and food.

This meeting allowed us to express why a modified shipping container would be perfect for the job:

The 16-gauge corteen steel walls of our containers, make them unsurpassed in durability. These heavy duty structures are secure when locked up, and impenetrable by rodents and extreme weather conditions. Lastly, one of the biggest benefits of a modified container is the ease with which it can be relocated. Built in forklift pockets allow for effortless lifting and repositioning of the unit.

Moana Park Estate opted for one of our 10ft Container Kiosks. When not being used to service the crowds at a big music event, the kiosk would sit perfectly next to their giant outdoor firepit, serving as an extension to their cellar door, and an area where they can serve their guests making use of the outdoor space.

When the customised container was ready, we transported it from our Auckland depot to Moana Park Estate in Hawkes Bay. It was really exciting to see the finished product being craned into position, and it has been even more exciting to see this modified container being used by Moana Park Estate for the purposes they outlined in our original meeting.

If you’re looking to buy containers with a specific use in mind, don’t hesitate to contact us, and ask about our range of modification options.
